A Queen Affirming Bible Study for Youth and Young Adults

Hosted by YASC, Yarra Yarra Presbytery and facilitated by Steff Fenton.

This bible study runs weekly each Tuesday in Term 3 starting on the 14th of July and concluding on the 15th of September from 7.30 to 9.00pm.

The studies are aimed for people between 15 and 30 years of age and will explore the following ideas and themes:

- How the Bible is interpreted and translated, in different ways and over time

- Queer theology and queer readings of scripture

- Feminist theology

- Reflecting together about our lived experiences

- Being a Christian today

- Cultivating Christian community

YASC are a group of youth and young adults from Churches across the Yarra Yarra Presbytery area, who want to explore Christian faith in our modern world with a focus on inclusivity and justice.

Steff Fenton is a pastor, writer and speak who advocates for social justice and acceptance especially for the LGBTQIA+ communities.

A Banyle Network of Uniting Churches event

The Café of Dangerous Ideas is designed to do two things: for those of us who are Christians of any persuasion – it is designed to make us ask how our faith impacts on the modern world. For those of us do not share that faith, it is designed to ask how does your morality impact on the decisions you make about various issues in our world today.

The Café of Dangerous Ideas gives you the chance to actively engage your faith and to make connections with others in the community who want to learn and discuss. We welcome you whatever your beliefs and understandings.

We usually meet on the last Friday of the month at the Sycamore Tree Café at 185 Burgundy Street Heidelberg from 7.30 – 9.30pm. A delicious supper is also provided.

Parking is available in the Uniting Church, next to the cafe.

Voices From The Edge

Is an event held each year by the Tecoma Uniting Church to celebrate and honor the diversity, creativity and community of First Nation Peoples as well as those who are LGBTQIA+ , Disabled or from Culturally Diverse Communities.

Come and meet artists and performers sharing their art in a friendly and welcoming community.

The event will be held on Saturday the 2nd of August at Tecoma Uniting Church from 1pm to 5.30pm.

The event incudes an Art Exhibition, Live music performances, Story telling and Panel Conversations, Community Art Activities and Foods from different cultures.

The event costs $30 for an Adult ; $20 for a Concession Holder ; and is free for children 16 and under.

This event is a wonderful chance to celebrate the diversity of our nation and learn more about those who call this land home.

Welcome all Musicians!

Come and join us at Living Faith Church as we meet to practice and record songs to be used during services when our music teams need a holiday.

This invitation is open to all members of our music teams past and present, including members of the Audio Visual Teams.

We will host 2 recording sessions on Saturday the 8th of August.

The first session will kick off at 10am.

During this time, musicians and singers will practice and then record "The Blessing" and "Good and Gracious King"

At 12pm we will take a break for lunch, ready for session two.

Session two will start at 1pm and will focus on "Yet Not I but Through Christ In Me" and "Thy Word"

Sheet music and lyrics is available as needed.

What will you do if you became very sick or had a serious accident and could not talk to your doctor about your own treatment?

The Pastoral Care Ministry Group invites you to come along on

Tuesday, 8th of September

2pm to 3pm

We will listen to this question presented by Ella Critchley and Linda Heard from Northern Health as they talk about Advance Care Planning.

Afterwards we will share afternoon tea together as we reflect on everything we have heard.

Advance Care Planning is thinking, talking and planning for such a situation.

Ella and Linda will explain to us about the ACP Acronym and how it can be used to help us in the future.

A. Appoint Another

You can sign a legal form making it clear who you want to make MEDICAL DECISIONS for you if you are too sick to do it yourself. This is a 'Medical Treatment Decision Maker'.

C. Chat and Communicate

Talk to your family, friends and doctors about your values, beliefs and health care preferences. Tell them about what is important for you. Also talk to your doctors or other health professionals to find out what might be ahead.

P. Put it on Paper

If there is something you feel strongly about, you can write it down in an Advance Care Directive. You can write own your health care values and preferences for future medical treatments, including what type of medical treatment you would agree to, and what you do not want.

Ella and Linda will also be talking about how you can appoint a Medical Decision Maker, discuss your plan with other people and make Advance Care Directives.

Global Mission Partners invites you to experience First Nations Culture.

Come and join Indigenous families in their communities as "they work towards reconciled and healed Australia."

This year Global Mission Partners are running 2 immersion tours where people are invited to join a local guide to visit and immerse themself in the First Nation culture, learning about the Indigenous Communities, their perspectives and a bit of local history.

The tours available are The IMA Juraki Discovery Visit from the 9th of September to the 12th of September in Fingal Head, New South Wales and the Dhiiyaan Discovery Visit from the 27th of September to the 30th of September in Dalby, Queensland.

Both tours cost $990 (excluding flights) and covers meals and accommodation.
